What else is getting done at my house in east Kansas City besides lots of blogging for Yael on the Trail? My wife and I are big gardeners. This fall, I decided to tackle four projects, and the first one was pretty much done by Thursday.
Step 1: Dig out 250 square feet of invasive grass, vinca and old flowers and get rid rid of all that junk.
Step 2: Fill in the area with dirt from the vegetable garden that’s being knocked down a foot (background).
Step 3: Spread sheets of weed-resistant fabric over the area.
Step 4: Add stepping stones at the right height, move heavy piece of granite to beneath the arch.
Step 6: Add pea stone gravel left and right of path.
Step 7: Add Mexican black pebbles under the arch.
Done and enjoy.
Next garden project is same size, but no pathway! Just lots of plants to put in.
Trying to beat the first frost with the third and fourth projects.
Don’t worry. Still plenty of time to talk to people and write more before the Nov. 8 elections end!
